Bought a House With a Crestron System? We'll Get You Up to Speed.

Inheriting a Crestron system can be overwhelming — racks of equipment, touchscreens you don't understand, and no documentation. We'll audit your system, explain what you've got, get everything working for you, and provide the documentation and ongoing support your previous owner never left behind.

Sound familiar?

Moving into a home with an existing Crestron system is both exciting and daunting. The potential is enormous — whole-home control of lighting, AV, climate, blinds, and security — but without documentation, credentials, or a relationship with the original installer, you're locked out of your own home's technology.

You've no idea what any of it does

There's a cupboard or dedicated rack room full of Crestron processors, switches, amplifiers, and blinking lights. Touchscreens on the walls show interfaces you've never seen before. The previous owner left no manual, no system guide, and no explanation. You're paying for technology you can't use.

Some things work but you don't know how to control them

The lights seem to come on at random, the blinds respond to buttons you don't understand, and the AV system plays through speakers you haven't figured out yet. The Crestron interface is powerful but unintuitive if nobody's ever shown you how it works. You need a proper handover.

Parts of the system seem to be broken or offline

Some rooms respond to the touchscreens and others don't. The cinema room is completely dead. A touchscreen in the hallway is showing an error. Without knowing what the system is supposed to do, you can't even tell what's broken and what's simply turned off.

The previous owner's installer won't help you

The original Crestron installer either won't support a system for a new homeowner, wants to charge a fortune for a 'takeover' service, or has gone out of business entirely. You're stuck with no route to professional support — until now.

You want to reset it to your preferences

The lighting scenes, audio zones, and climate settings are all configured for someone else's lifestyle. You want the system adapted to how you live — your wake-up routine, your preferred lighting levels, your media sources. But you don't know how to change anything without breaking it.

You're worried about the ongoing cost and complexity

You've heard Crestron is expensive and complex to maintain. You're wondering whether to keep it, replace it with something simpler, or rip it all out. Before making that decision, you need someone to honestly assess the system and explain your options — maintenance costs, upgrade paths, and alternatives.

Here's how we help

We give you the complete system handover that your previous owner never provided.

1

Remote Assessment

We start with a phone call to understand what you know so far — what's working, what isn't, and what you're hoping to achieve. If the Crestron processor is online and accessible, we can connect remotely to begin reviewing the system's configuration, programme, and connected devices before we visit.

2

On-Site Diagnosis

We conduct a full system audit — documenting every piece of Crestron hardware, mapping what it controls, checking the health of every device, and testing every room. We also review the network configuration, check firmware versions, and identify any equipment that's faulty, offline, or no longer supported. You'll know exactly what you've inherited.

3

Fix & Resolve

We bring any offline or faulty components back to life, update firmware where needed, and — critically — reconfigure the system to your preferences. New lighting scenes to match your lifestyle, AV sources set up as you want them, climate schedules adjusted, and the Crestron Home app configured on your phones and tablets. We make the system yours.

4

Test & Handover

We walk you through the entire system, room by room. You'll understand every touchscreen, every keypad, every automation. We provide complete documentation — a system inventory, user guide, IP address table, and programme backup. And we'll be there for ongoing support whenever you need us. You'll never feel locked out of your own system again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start by calling us for a free initial consultation. We'll ask about what you can see (touchscreens, keypads, rack equipment) and what's currently working. From there, we'll recommend either a remote assessment (if the system is online) or an on-site audit to fully understand what you've inherited. We'll guide you through the whole process — there's no wrong question and no pressure.

Absolutely. We're independent Crestron specialists and the majority of systems we work on were installed by other companies. We have the tools, licensing, and expertise to work with any Crestron system regardless of age, model, or who originally installed it. We don't need your previous owner's installer to be involved at all.

Crestron hardware is the highest-quality smart home equipment available — it's built to last and almost always worth keeping. A system that's five, ten, or even fifteen years old often just needs updated programming and proper commissioning to be better than anything you could buy new today. We'll give you an honest assessment of whether yours is worth investing in, but in the vast majority of cases, the answer is yes.

It depends on the size and condition of the system. A straightforward takeover of a working system with personalisation and documentation might take a day. A larger system that needs faults repaired, programming updated, and full commissioning could take several days. We provide a clear fixed-price quote after the initial assessment, so there are no surprises.

Yes. If your system is running Crestron Home OS (typically on an MC4-R or CP4-R processor), we'll configure the Crestron Home app on all your household devices — iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and tablets. If your system uses a custom SIMPL programme with an older interface, we can discuss upgrading to Crestron Home or building a modern mobile-friendly interface.

Absolutely. A key part of our handover service is providing you with complete documentation that the previous owner should have left: a full hardware inventory, system diagram, IP address table, user guide, and a secure backup of the running programme. You'll never be dependent on a single company's knowledge of your system.

Yes. After the initial audit and handover, we offer optional maintenance agreements that include priority remote support, annual system health checks, firmware updates, and discounted rates for any changes or additions. Many inherited system clients choose ongoing support for peace of mind, but there's no obligation — you can call us as and when you need us.
